The ash conditioner is a totally enclosed, paddle type mixer designed to condition fly ash, bottom ash, and other abrasive or dusty materials. The unit (coupled with a Rotary Feeder) features the ability to accurately control both the material feed rate and the water supply flow rate, as well as ensure a complete and controlled mixing prior to discharge. In this manner, the fly ash or other material can be precisely conditioned with minimum water usage.

DESCRIPTION:

The construction of ash conditioner can be broadly classified under the following heads :

1.Mixing Chamber.

2.Spray System.

3.Drive Unit.

1. MIXING CHAMBER:

The chamber or body of the ash conditioner where the actual conditioning of ash/dust occurs consists of fabricated steel trough, within which parallel mixing shafts are mounted. Replaceable, abrasion resistant mixing paddles are mounted on each shaft. When these shaft turn in counter rotating fashion, the mixing paddles convey the material through the mixing chamber, while thoroughly tumbling and mixing the material.

The mixing action caused by the interweaving action of the paddles causes all surfaces of the material to be exposed to the water sprays. Four numbers adjustable paddles are provided to regulate the residence times of material in the mixer.

Shafts are mounted on antifriction sealed bearings. Sealing blocks are bolted on the chamber to prevent any ingress of ash into the bearing blocks. Lip seals are provided on either sides of sealing blocks, bearing blocks and gear housing for extra protection against ash/dust & water. Counter rotating motion is accomplished by twin spur gears, one mounted on each shaft.

2. SPRAY SYSTEM:

As the material is conveyed through the mixing chamber, water is sprayed on the material through a series of header located along the top of the chamber. Each header is provided with a number of special fog jet nozzle tips. A flow control valve in the main water supply line permits control of outlet product moisture content.

3. DRIVE UNIT:

The ash conditioner shaft is driven by electric motor coupled to a reduction gear box. The output shaft of gear box is coupled to the main shaft which rotates the other shaft through spur gears.
